Grants Pass took a 13-point halftime lead and pulled away from Class 5A Ridgeview for a 55-31 non-league girls' basketball victory Tuesday at Heater-Newman Memorial Gymnasium.
Grants Pass (1-1), coming off a season-opening loss to South Albany last Thursday, got a game-high 24 points from sophomore guard Millie Lathen. Fellow sophomore Eva Lindahl scored 10 of her 15 points in the opening half.

The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division said Tuesday it has fined a Jackson County construction company $128,345 for repeated workplace safety violations.
An inspection of a framing project being done in White City by Phoenix-based Shrader Homes Inc. prompted the fine, OSHA said.
The inspection found five violations, including a lack of eye protection while running a pneumatic nail gun.

The Jackson County-based Southern Oregon Photographic Association has named the winning images from its December competition.
A total of 90 images were entered by club members, 52 in the electronic image division and 38 prints.
In the electronic image division, traditional category, with 34 entries, two images tied for first place: Neal Thompson's "Just Resting" and Martin Livingston's "Grey Hornbill."
